RISKS AND TERMS

Arbitrage: theory, account limits and risk

In theory, arbitrage describes a price difference where a combination can produce a positive result under specified assumptions. In practice, conditions can change or may never be achievable at the same time.

Why theory may differ from reality

The mathematics applies only to the values and rules included. A price change, a rejected part of a proposed combination or different settlement can change the result.

That remains true even if the calculation was correct when displayed. A snapshot does not reserve a price or oblige an external operator to accept an amount.

Risks a calculation does not remove

  • Price changes and delayed data: displayed odds may already be outdated.
  • Different market rules: regular time, extra time, abandoned events and voiding may be treated differently.
  • Limits: an amount may be rejected or accepted only in part.
  • Costs: fees, currency conversion and rounding may change the net result.
  • Technology and handling: outages, incorrect information or misunderstandings may change the outcome.

What is account limitation?

Limitation means an operator restricts the amount that can be staked. Terms and application vary. A lower limit or a request for documents does not by itself explain why an account was reviewed.

The Swedish Gambling Authority describes stake limitation as a matter not specifically regulated by Swedish gambling legislation. It also notes that contractual terms and their application may be examined through other routes. Its current guidance is linked below.

Claims that particular amounts, withdrawal patterns or proportions of recreational bets guarantee protection from limits should not be treated as established facts. Additional bets and casino play create further risk of loss, not reliable account protection.

Withdrawals, checks and terms

A calculated result does not establish when money will be available. Identity checks, payment terms and processing are separate issues.

Labels such as exchange or “sharp bookmaker” do not themselves guarantee unlimited amounts, immediate withdrawals or availability in a particular country. Current terms and availability need separate assessment.

An operator appearing in a data source does not establish that it holds a Swedish licence. The Swedish Gambling Authority’s licence register is a separate source for that check.

If something goes wrong

Ask the operator for a written explanation and retain the relevant terms and correspondence. The Swedish Gambling Authority’s guidance explains where different complaints can be directed.

Gambling can cause financial and personal harm. Stödlinjen offers support and Spelpaus is Sweden’s self-exclusion service. ArbiScan does not replace that support and cannot change an operator’s decision.
